Good to know

• Clients are advised to be on time at meeting points given by hosts, guides and coach drivers as tours will proceed without them
• On certain days this tour will return via Galway, instead of Westport with earlier arrival in Dublin at 9:25pm

• Wheelchair accessibility: As long as the passenger has some mobility then this tour would be suitable. Trains in Ireland are wheelchair friendly however buses/coaches are not. The guest would have to be able to climb the steps on to the bus. Mobility Scooters cannot be accommodated on this tour.

• PLEASE NOTE: If you are booking a double occupancy room, please specify in 'Special Requirements' whether you prefer a double or a twin-bed room (subject to availability)

What to expect

Day 1 Dublin - Limerick- Bunratty Castle - The Cliffs of Moher - Galway

  1. Bunratty Castle and Folk Park

1 hour 30 min Admission ticket included

We visit Bunratty Castle and admission is included. The castle was completed in 1425 and, after many years of neglect, has been restored to its former glory. There is also a folk park here and some of the buildings in the village were dismantled at various locations in the region and rebuilt brick by brick at their present location. Even the 18th century church was relocated to its present position using this method!

  2. Cliffs of Moher

1 hour 10 min Admission ticket included

The Cliffs of Moher are among the highest sea cliffs in Europe. There is plenty of time to visit Ireland’s second most popular tourist attraction and your host will advise you of the departure time.

  3. Galway Bay

    1 hour 10 min

We take the coast road for much of the way to Galway, with time for photos along The Burren. This is a national park and the word Burren comes from the Irish Language –it means ‘rocky place’. Today the Burren is noted for its diverse Flora with few parallels elsewhere in Ireland or indeed, Europe. As time permits, we will make a short stop here for photographs.

Day 2 Connemara - Kylemore Abbey - Dublin:

  1. Killary Fjord

    15 min

We pass through Maam Cross – The Connemara Crossroads – where we turn right towards the village of Maam and then down the Maam Valley to the village of Leenane where we have a coffee stop in this tiny village at the head of Ireland’s only Fjord, Killary Harbour.

  2. 30 min

We pass through the Gaeltacht villages of Inverin and Spiddal and looking out across the blue waters of the Atlantic at the unique lime-stone of the Burren and the hills of Clare. In Spiddal there is a craft village and the Standun sweater shop.

  3. Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Garden

1 hour 45 min Admission ticket not included

We stop at Kylemore Abbey and gardens which is our lunch stop. If you wish to visit the Abbey and Gardens there is a reduced admission charge, (your driver will advise).

Additional Information

  • WHEELCHAIR POLICY: Railtours Ireland First Class ltd very successfully offers hosted railtours for the independent traveller. Our tours are a combination of train and luxury coach and include a moderate level of physical activity, such as short walks to meeting points etc. Unfortunately even the most modern luxury coaches (buses) are not wheelchair friendly, thus our tours are not suitable for those with mobility issues, and regretfully walkers, wheelchairs and mobility scooters cannot be accommodated on our tours.
  • Mobile or paper ticket accepted
  • Up to 10 travelers per booking
  • Each booking must include at least one adult.
